Having caught "soft-brick" few times on this procedure ("update modenm version"), long ago I was going to make "a collection of modems" for TWRP (to exclude "bricks" and the PC from process of up-dating of the modem).

So, we will begin.

#1. Create in a root directory of smartphone (or on a flash card if OTG is used) such chain of folders: \TWRP\BACKUPS\Zuk serial\
("Zuk serial" in this case is serial number of your Z2)

#2. Download (mega.nz, ~ 420 Mb), unpack and copy in the folder from #1.

#3. As a result it shall look approximately so:
View attachment 2571
#4. Reboot smartphone in TWRP.

#5. Tap on Restore - open the folder from #1 - select the version of the modem - swipe for process start:
View attachment 2572
#6. Reboot in system.
Hi,
Thanks for your good job.
I have a question.... When I try to flash a modem file, from twrp I can select only firmware partition... I'm using twrp 3.1.1 ... I'm not tried yet to flash it selecting firmware partition (Is the only item on the list) ... Can i try without dangerous?

Thanks for your suggestion
Bye

I am on the same baseband. I installed it right after Magz posted it. GPS is working great for me. On most ROMs I get GPS fix under 10 seconds with accuracy at 5m. On other ROMs it may take close to 30 seconds for fix, but accuracy is almost always 5m if you wait long enough. I usually update agps after I flash a new ROM and I have never had a gps issue.

Tried this baseband M8996FAAAANAZM-1.76387.1.92759.1 no LTE anywhere, 3G seems stable.

Tried this baseband M8996FAAAANAZM-1.70664.3.76387.1 a lot of drops in signal, constantly fluctuating from 3G to LTE...

Tried this baseband 9-00026-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.63821.1 the most stable yet but drops signal once in a while

Have to try the others but it seems there is no perfect baseband with stable signal 3G and LTE.

Using nougat, AEX by Davide.
Hey can you plz upload 420 mbbaseband archive again? Link is dead .

Hi, what is the best way to flash baseband?
Twrp or PC ?
Also is there possibility of getting booterloader locked if I flash from twrp?
And last question is that ,from your baseband collection in Google drive, for restoring from twrp, which file I have to restore? You have not mentioned it in the text file?
Reply ASAP

(I am on aex 5, same baseband. But getting random disconnecting issue, 7-8 times in half an hour)

update:
- I have updated the 1st topic to give it more structure and fixed the broken crosslinks to the discussions thread
- I have also reverted back to baseband no 4) --> zuk_z2_baseband_2.0.079.zip on my device as all the 1.7 basebands do fluctuate a lot on signal levels. I am running AEX 5 (Oreo 8.1 ) now so lets see how this baseband works as daily driver
